"He is the godfather of British modernism in the classical style and is known for designing some of the most iconic industrial products of the last 50 years."Alyn Griffiths and Sam Rogers for Wallpaper.com on Sir Kenneth Grange, designer of Anglepoise Type 75
Anglepoise Type 75 – iconic design, steerable light
The Type 75 by Sir Kenneth Grange, design director at Anglepoise since 2003, is a tribute to the original Anglepoise lamp by George Carwardine. Like its role model, which Sir Grange described even then as a "little miracle of balance," the luminaire is characterized by its clever technology and functional design.
With their clean lines and high-quality metal, the floor, table and wall lamps exude industrial flair, while the adjustable shade provides flexible light control.
The desk and floor lamps of the product family are equipped with the famous Anglepoise spring mechanism. This allows the articulated arms to be precisely aligned, ensuring maximum stability in any position.
The Type 75 wall and desk lamps are also available as mini versions. In addition, there are special editions in special colors, which were created in collaboration with Paul Smith and Margaret Howell, respectively.
In our shop you can find the Anglepoise desk and wall lamp in two sizes: Type 75 and Type 75 Mini, the latter being smaller. Thus, the Type 75 wall lamp has a shade diameter of 14.5 cm and a maximum depth of 32 cm. The shade of the Mini wall lamp, in turn, measures 13 cm in diameter, and the maximum depth of the lamp is 23 cm.
The Mini desk lamp also has a slightly smaller shade than the Type 75 desk lamp, and its articulated arm is also slightly shorter. In addition to the size, the versions differ in their socket: the Type 75 has an E27 socket, while the Mini version has an E14 socket.
Special Editions of Type 75
Paul Smith
The two Type 75 desk lamps are also available as a Special Edition, which the British designer Paul Smith has given a colorful exterior. While Edition 1 presents itself in bright spring colors, Edition 2 is characterized by rich autumn tones. For Edition 3, Paul Smith used the three primary colors red, blue and yellow. For Edition 4, on the other hand, he used dark, earthy tones.
Margaret Howell gave the desk, floor and wall lamp a colorful look. The British fashion designer likes to be inspired by nature, which is also reflected in the special editions. For the Anglepoise Type 75 lamps, she chose one eye-catching accent color each: a bold yellow, an intense blue and a light brown.
Sir Kenneth Grange – legendary creator of numerous iconic designs
Sir Kenneth Grange is one of the most outstanding industrial designers of our time. He was knighted in 2013 for his services to design.
Born in London, he worked as a technical illustrator during his military service and later devoted himself to industrial design. In the 1970s, together with Alan Fletcher, Colin Forbes and Mervyn Kurlansky, he founded Pentagram – one of the first interdisciplinary design offices.

Sir Kenneth Grange has designed countless everyday products that always focus on usability. For the Brit, functionality plays a major role in design. This is expressed not only in the Type 75 but also in the
Type 80
. Characteristic features of the functional designer luminaire by Sir Kenneth Grange are its striking graphic profile and the all-round light outlet. Thus, in addition to direct zone light, the Type 80 provides soft diffused light.
