Design

By means of the Artemide Athena Terra LED, Naoto Fukasawa presented his newest light design that has the potential to become a classic. The shape of the floor uplighter follows the minimalist design language that is characteristic for Fukasawa. The light head as well as the base of the Athena Terra LED from the Italian light manufacturer Artemide take up the basic geometric figure of a circle. Moreover, both are connected by a filigree shaft. This simple symmetry gives the floor lamp a fascinating touch. At the same time, the floor lamp focuses on its essential functions: supplying a room with indirect light.

Designer

The design of the Athena Terra LED was penned by Naoto Fukasawa who created this luminaire in 2015 for the manufacturer Artemide.

Artemide Athena Terra LED floor lamp: energy-saving ambient lighting

The Artemide Athena Terra LED treats a room with indirect and softly glare-free ambient lighting. This is effected by directing its light onto the ceiling. From there it is diffused into the room so that a pleasant atmosphere is created. The Athena Terra LED from Artemide is provided with an extremely efficient LED module with a total output of 40 watts. It produces a luminous flux of 3,420 lumens which is more than the output achieved by a conventional 200 W incandescent lamp. However, this is not all: the floor lamp can be dimmed by means of a dimmer on the shaft.
