Design

The attractive looking Artemide Demetra table lamp embodies elegant minimalism. Kept in tastefully coloured surface finish, it convinces the viewer with its filigree arms and its impressively flat light head. The Demetra table lamps made from high-quality aluminium received numerous awards, for instance, the Design Plus and the iF Design Award.

Naoto Fukasawa is one of the pioneers of Minimal Design. The Japanese designer born in the Yamanashi Prefecture in 1956 strives for a composition that waives any kind of design that seeks for attention at any price and instead makes a certain unobtrusiveness the dominant feature – as is impressively demonstrated by the Artemide Demetra table lamp. His works should not impose themselves on the viewers but should rather secure a place in their everyday lives thanks to their usefulness. To describe this kind of design he coined the term "super normal design".

The design of the Artemide Demetra Tavolo with screw fastening was penned by Naoto Fukasawa.

Demetra – flexible LED lighting

Two slim, adjustable arms and a rotatable and pivotable light head direct the light of the Artemide Demetra table light exactly to where it is needed. Here, a touch dimmer on the light head enables you to continuously adjust the brightness. A discreet rope pull system comparable to the one of the Tolomeo classic provides the variably adjustable light with a high level of stability in every position. Thus, no disturbing movements occur that you probably know from inferior products.

The zone lighting of the table lamp by Artemide is provided by modern LEDs that are considered to be the illuminant of the future. A 9.5 W light-emitting diode not only offers warm-white light but also proves to be exemplary when it comes to the luminous efficacy: the highly efficient LED of the Artemide Demetra offers about 400 lumens which corresponds to the light intensity achieved by a conventional 40 W incandescent light bulb. The light intensity, however, is certainly much higher since the light emitted by the LED is much more efficient and concentrated when it is directed onto the work area. Thus, the Demetra saves you a lot of energy compared to a luminaire equipped with an incandescent light bulb.
