Design

The original Mercury Sospensione, which was designed for operation with halogen rods, won many coveted prizes, including the Red Dot Award. Its successor, the Artemide Mercury Sospensione LED fascinates with the same extravagant design as its predecessor. The pendant lamp, conceived by star designer Ross Lovegrove for Artemide, captivates with its incomparable aesthetics. It consists of a large disc made of die-cast aluminium. Ten pebble-shaped reflectors of different sizes made of shiny, shape-cut aluminium are connected to the Artemide Mercury Sospensione LED luminaire body by nylon threads of different lengths. In this way, the reflectors seem to float in the air like drops of molten mercury – a truly unrivalled sight!

The Mercury Sospensione LED light was designed by Ross Lovegrove in 2011 for Artemide.

Mercury Sospensione LED – soft room light with beautiful light reflections

As impressive as the aesthetics of the Artemide Mercury Sospensione are, as enchanting is its lighting effect. Two of the suspended reflectors are fitted with energy-efficient LED modules whose warm white rays are emitted upwards. On the way there, the other "drops" reflect them into the surrounding area in different directions; those that get through to the large disc are also downwards into the room. The result is a beguiling, in any case absolutely glare-free room light. What is more, for their powerful light output, the two LEDs of the Artemide Mercury pendant luminaire require only little energy.
