Artemide Tolomeo Basculante - Refined elegance
The modified version of the classic Artemide Tolomeo impresses with its unusual design: the swinging lampshade swings out and returns to its original position automatically.
Like the Tolomeo Mega series, the shade is available in two versions - satin and parchment. A practical handle above the shade enables precise alignment of the light.
Enjoy the zone light in a light white tone with the satin or a soft ochre tone with the parchment. For relaxing moments in your favourite armchair or for targeted zone light at your desk - the diffuse shade of the Tolomeo Basculante lends your home an atmospheric ambience. The translucent material and the upper opening of the shade also provide additional ambient light.

Tolomeo Baculante floor lamps
The Tolomeo Basculante is primarily known as a reading or floor lamp, as it provides a very pleasant reading light thanks to the diffuse shade. Thanks to the wide-ranging arm, the light direction of the Basculante Lettura can be operated comfortably while seated. The Basculante Terra, on the other hand, has larger dimensions and therefore a wider range of light. The latter is therefore suitable as additional room lighting. The floor lamps therefore cut a particularly fine figure next to an armchair or sofa.
If you are looking for a space-saving lighting solution, the Basculante Terra doppio is an option for you. It has two adjustable articulated arms, allowing the light sources to be directed in two different directions. This means that people who are not sitting next to each other can use the light independently of each other.

Important: The Tolomeo Basculante lights are only compatible with the ø 18 cm shades; larger versions belong to the Tolomeo Mega range.

Michele De Lucchi initially gained fame as a co-founder of the Memphis Design Movement.
Together with the architect Giancarlo Fassina, he designed the iconic lights in the Tolomeo series for Artemide.
Their innovative designs have had a lasting influence on the design of lighting and continue to characterise it to this day.

Can the shade of the Tolomeo Basculante be orientated?
The swinging shade of the Tolomeo Basculante range is not designed to be manually adjusted. The construction is designed so that it automatically returns to its original position. Any external influence could lead to damage.
To align the light, please use the handle above the shade.
How do I clean the sunshades?
As they are made of the precious materials satin and parchment, cleaning them is just as challenging as for other high-quality items. Even designer products are no exception.
In the case of parchment, careful cleaning with a wall eraser is recommended. However, there is no guarantee that this will be successful and that the screen will remain undamaged.
In the event of stubborn stains, we advise you to replace the lampshade. You can find replacement shades in our online shop.
How does the light differ between the shades and in comparison to the Tolomeo Tavolo?
The light characteristics vary depending on the shade material. The slightly transparent shades of the Basculante create additional ambient light and differ in light colour.
The parchment creates a warmer perception of light, while satin achieves a modern and cooler effect.
In comparison, the Tavolo with its aluminium shade only provides zoned light.
