Artemide Tolomeo Micro Faretto: compact and purist
Made in
Italy
Design
Just like all light fixtures of the Tolomeo series from Artemide, the Tolomeo Micro Faretto wall light impresses by its extraordinarily elegant and purist design. This and the small size allow this designer light to harmoniously blend into every living ambience. The special highlight for design aficionados is the appealing contrast created by the sating-finished, aluminium-coloured surface of the light head and the glossy polished aluminium finish of the wall bracket. The Artemide Tolomeo Micro Faretto was designed by Michele De Lucchi. He is considered as a legend of design. He created the Tolomeo table lamp for Artemide which is one of the most famous and best-selling lights ever.
Designer
Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina designed the Tolomeo Micro Faretto Reading lights in 2000 for the manufacturer Artemide.

Tolomeo Micro Faretto – rotating light head
The elegant design of the Artemide Tolomeo Micro Faretto is accompanied by outstanding functionality. This wall lamp supplies cosy, focused light. Thanks to the light head that can be rotated in all directions, the light emitted can be conveniently adjusted to suit one’s requirements. A discreet metal handle is attached to facilitate a simple adjustment of the light head. This way, the Tolomeo Micro Faretto wall light can be easily repositioned even after a longer period of operation without having to touch the hot light head. A nice additional feature is the small aperture on the head: this way, a touch of ambient lighting is emitted towards the ceiling thereby creating an additional, unobtrusive lighting accent.
The Faretto is available with or without a switch on the base. It is recommended to use a halogen illuminant for the operation of this light. These lamps are known for an excellent colour rendering.
The Artemide Tolomeo Micro Faretto is sufficiently stable and has a round rocker switch underneath the lamps and with this design it is especially sensible if the lamp is to be operated from below such as, for example, when used as a night lamp on the wall. The switch is easy to find and when switching off contact with the hot lamp shade is avoided. Assembly is easy if you already have wall plugs and screws in the house: the intention is that the round aluminium base plate is attached by means of three screws and matching wall plugs. 5 mm wall plugs and flat head screws between 2.5 and 3 cm in length are more than adequate. With a pattress box, only two wall plugs can be fitted but this still seems to hold it firmly in place. A terminal strip is attached to the lamp housing, this can be loosened to connect or disconnect the cable. If the wall plugs are inserted, the cables are drawn through the base plate and this is attached to the wall – long holes enable fine adjustments to be made – if the lamp body is attached from above and clamped using a headless screw which almost completely disappears, there is no more shaking. As with all Artemide lamps, this is all nice and inconspicuous. The Artemide Tolomeo Micro Faretto is sufficiently stable and has a round rocker switch underneath the lamps and with this design it is especially sensible if the lamp is to be operated from below such as, for example, when used as a night lamp on the wall. Perfection and simplicity. Two things are wanted from a lamp. Pleasant light and a pleasing appearance. The fitting must not intrude but it must be easy on the eye. The Tolemeo is all these things. Its form is an understated expression of its function. It stands by itself as a visually satisfying object. It improves the quality of its surroundings but does not clash with them. It is quietly at home in spaces of every style and period. Any contrast it provides enhances their intrinsic design. More cannot be asked. This is a good design.Perfection and simplicity. Tolomeo Micro Faretto: wall lights for the living room and the bedroom
The exemplary flexibility of the Artemide Tolomeo Micro Faretto wall light is particularly well suited for solutions that require focused illumination. Thus, this small light source provides assistance with its focused light next to an armchair or a sofa, for instance, when reading the newspaper or a magazine. Next to the bed in the bedroom, the Tolomeo Micro Faretto from Artemide also supports the eyes by supplying the desired amount of light – e.g. while reading a book.
