Design

The Artemide Tolomeo Sospensione has won several prizes, among others, the iF Award and the International Design prize of the Focus Open, held in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The pendant light version of the Tolomeo Tavolo table lamp is characterised by the same functionally elegant industrial design as its world-famous predecessor – streamlined arms, the shade in the shape of a small hat and the tasteful surfaces, which form a fascinating contrast between matt and polished surfaces. The frame and swivelling lamp arms as well as the hinges are made of polished aluminium. The lamp shades, however, are made of matt aluminium, which owes its durability and scratch resistance to a special chemical process named anodic oxidation.

Tolomeo Sospensione – needs-oriented lighting

A more flexible or adjustable pendant luminaire is barely possible. Thanks to the cleverly devised Tolomeo spring balancing system and the highly adjustable rods, the lampshades can be moved into any imaginable position. In this way, it is possible to direct the light into the precise area where you need it. For this pendant light, you need lamps with an E27 base, for example halogen lamps. These are known for their excellent colour rendering, which illuminates objects in a very natural way.

The extraordinary flexibility of the Artemide Tolomeo Sospensione is highly appreciated in many areas. For example above a desk, the pendant light provides target-oriented light, which prevents your eyes from overtiring too quickly. Furthermore, the Tolomeo Sospensione supplies its needs-oriented light in the living room. Suspended above a coffee table, the tasteful pendant light visually upgrades the entire room. Last but not least, the luminaire perfectly illuminates dinner tables and presents the food and drinks on it in a pleasant light. In addition, the Artemide pendant lamp contributes to the base lighting of the room by means of a small opening in the top of each lamp shade. The Tolomeo Sospensione is best suited to illuminate tables of a size between 1.80 m to 2.80 m.
