Which light is suitable for the balcony?
To turn your balcony into a light oasis for well-being, it is best to combine room, zone and mood lighting.
Wall lamps with indirect light or uplighting and downlighting provide good basic brightness for orientation.
Zone light, for example for reading, is provided by table or floor lamps with direct, ideally adjustable light. If you opt for battery lamps, you are independent of a nearby power source.
You can create mood lighting for a cozy atmosphere with fairy lights or lights with a ground spike, which you insert into flower boxes. LED solar lights or LED candles will also spoil you with cozy, atmospheric light.
How many lumens do I need for the balcony?
How many lumens your balcony lighting should have depends on the application.
If your balcony lamps serve as orientation lighting, for example in the form of wall lights, about 300 lumens is a good guide.
Important: Minimize glare when using wall sconces with direct or diffused light and avoid looking directly into the light source. If in doubt, choose a lamp with a lower luminous flux instead.
Reading lights should have at least 300, preferably 500 lumens or more. That way, you'll be easier on your eyes when you're cozying up with a book on the balcony.
For mood lighting, we recommend balcony lamps with up to 100 lumens. Dimmable lights with warm white light are good.
