Catellani & Smith UAU Terra – a gleaming spot illuminates the room

A light fixture stands in the room and fills it with its elementary design. The UAU Terra emanates simplicity. By means of this model, Catellani & Smith makes an effort in the area of the aesthetics of simplicity. A brightly shining point seems to be floating within the room and arouses associations with the evening star at twilight.

The essential design of the UAU Terra makes you feel the lightness. This designer lamp impresses by its reduced look that leaves the stage entirely to the light. It is manufactured by hand on the basis of a design by Enzo Catellani created in 2009. In the living room, this floor lamp serves to provide zone lighting for coffee tables, armchairs or sofas and it also suffuses the bed in the bedroom with pleasant focused light. In a study, it illuminates the desk. The light is emitted downwards, it hits the floor or pieces of furniture which simply cannot escape this lighting effect. The UAU Terra by the Italian designer Catellani & Smith reduces the form to its essence. The UAU Terra floor lamp rests on a square-shaped base made of nickel-plated metal with one side measuring 12 cm. A round steel bar with a length of 150 cm vertically rises upwards and holds the light arm of the UAU Terra. The light arm is made of nickel-plated copper and is 56 cm long. At the end, a glass lens with a diameter of only 20 mm is located. It refracts the light of a white light-emitting diode (LED) and illuminates the room with uniform light.

The floor lamp is equipped with a modern, durable LED module which saves energy thanks to a high energy-efficiency, and with its warm-white light temperature, it creates a particularly pleasant atmosphere. A cable with a mains plug ensures the power supply; the transformer is integrated. The brightness of the UAU Terra can be controlled by means of the soft start switch on the cable.
