Protection types for outdoor ceiling lights
A higher protection rating is generally recommended for outdoor lights. This is because they are exposed to different weather conditions and should therefore be particularly protected against external influences and moisture, depending on where they are used. The following applies: the more unprotected your outdoor ceiling light is installed, the higher the IP protection rating of the product should be.
You benefit from a high level of protection against contact, foreign bodies and water with luminaires with an IP65 protection rating. This means that the ceiling light is dustproof and protected against water jets. In most cases, however, IP44 protection is sufficient. Lights with this labelling are splash-proof.

There are various ways to use ceiling lights outdoors. The most popular areas of application are

What should I consider when using ceiling lights outdoors?
We experience more glare outdoors than indoors. You should therefore pay particular attention to good glare control with outdoor ceiling lights. We recommend luminaires with recessed light sources or matt diffusers. Indirect lighting is always a good choice. In any case, you should avoid looking directly into the light source.
When it comes to luminous flux, less is more, especially when it comes to basic orientation light. We also recommend outdoor ceiling lights with a warm white light of
2.700 Kelvin
. This provides insect-friendly lighting that is less of a problem for the animals when it comes to orientation.Under what conditions should I use spotlights instead of ceiling lights outdoors?
