Design

Bernard Schottlander, a German designer living in exile, designed the DCWéditions Mantis BS1 B in 1951. The French light manufacturer DCWéditions distributes the noble floor lamp as a re-edition that is true to the original. The Mantis BS1 B stands out for its wide-reaching shaft that may be tilted in several steps by means of a counterbalance. At the upper end of the slightly bent frame an asymmetric lampshade is located that slightly reminds us of a hat. The floor lamp distinguishes itself form its sister model DCWéditions Mantis BS1 by its round base.

Mantis BS1 B floor lamps: flexibly adjustable zone lighting

The DCWéditions Mantis BS1 B emits needs-oriented zone lighting directly downwards. Thanks to its adjustable shade and the inclinable frame, the light may be directed exactly to where it is required. This way, the floor lamp serves as a practical reading light. Moreover, the Mantis BS1 B from DCWéditions is particularly energy-efficient. It may be equipped with a fluorescent lamp with an E14 base with a maximum power of 11 watts. Alternatively, an LED retrofit may also be used. In both cases, the floor lamp supplies pleasant and warm-white light.
