DesignThe French light manufacturer DCWéditions breathes new life into the design classics of the 20th century and makes no exception with the DCWéditions Mantis BS2. The wall light was conceived by the German designer and artist Bernard Schottlander. While designing this wall light in 1951, he was inspired by the artwork of Alexander Calders. Just like his sculptures, the Mantis BS2 shows a sophisticated balance. The characteristic head of the luminaire, which resembles a pointed cap, is connected to a long pole, held in place by means of a chain. The wall bracket is also characterised by an exemplary balance: the wall light by DCWéditions is screwed to the wall at two points with the pole in the middle leaning against the wall. By means of this elaborate construction, the Mantis BS2 surely attracts the attention of its viewers.
