Design

The DCWéditions Mantis BS5 was conceived by Bernard Schottlander in 1951. While designing the flexibly adjustable wall light, he was inspired by the sculptures of Alexander Calders. His creations are characterised by an interplay of weightlessness and balance. Schottlander applied this principle to the Mantis BS5. Its characteristic shade, which slightly resembles a pointed cap, is held by a pole mounted to the wall bracket. Thereby, the wall light by the French light manufacturer DCWéditions embodies a stylish eye catcher with a classy industrial look, which adds that certain something to any area.

Designer

Bernard Schottlander designed the Mantis BS5 for the manufacturer DCW in 1951.

The DCWéditions Mantis BS5 supplies needs-oriented zone light thanks to the adjustable lamp arm and shade. Thereby, nothing stands in the way of a relaxing reading pleasure. The Mantis BS5 may be equipped with either a compact fluorescent lamp or a retrofit LED candle bulb. light11 recommends using LEDs, as they consume less energy and, more important, do not contain mercury.
