Battery lamp with asymmetrical light beam for uniform, large-area zone lighting
„Whether in a restaurant or at home, this luminaire is a true all-rounder.“ Vincent Van Duysen, designer of Gustave
Flos Gustave – innovative, compact and versatile
With Gustave, Vincent Van Duysen has designed his first portable battery lamp for Flos. The mobile table lamp is characterized by its reduced, flowing design language and provides well glare-free light that contributes to a cozy atmosphere. As with Oblique, Flos makes use of a special patented lens here. This allows for a bright, asymmetrical beam of light that evenly illuminates the area around the lamp.
The elegant, compact battery lamp was designed specifically for restaurants and can be used both indoors and outdoors thanks to splash water protection. Whether on the dining table, couch, or garden table: Flos Gustave provides atmospheric light, which you can dim for a particularly cozy ambience. The operation is very simple: By touching the lamp head, you switch the lamp on and off.
As with all of its new luminaires, Flos focuses on a durable, eco-friendly design. The Gustave battery lamp can be disassembled into its individual parts and recycled, making it a sustainable lighting object.
Gustave battery lamp in different colors
The Gustave battery lamp from Flos we offer you in different colors and with matte and glossy surface. So you decide whether the mobile table lamp discreetly stays in the background or becomes an attractive eye-catcher.
Inspired by the iconic table lamps of Adolf Loos, one of the pioneers of modern architecture, Vincent Van Duysen wanted to develop a battery lamp that is technically sophisticated, but without looking like it. The result is the Gustave Rechargeable Lamp LED with its soft, flowing design language that hides LED and patented lens technology. Their unique positioning results in a bright beam of light that falls obliquely onto the table surface and spills out at a 360° angle around the base of the lamp. This way, you benefit from uniform lighting and an atmospheric ambience.
By the way, the lamp is named after Monsieur Gustave H, the legendary concierge from the film "Grand Budapest Hotel" by Wes Anderson.
Vincent Van Duysen works as an architect, product and interior designer. The Belgian is known for his functional and timeless style. His designs are strongly reduced to the essentials and are characterized by high durability and ease of use. His preference for simple, clear forms is reflected in the Gustave battery lamp as well as in Oblique and Infra Structure. The former integrates the same special lens as Gustave and is visually defined by its slim profile with a flat luminaire head. Infra Structure, on the other hand, is a modular system of pendant luminaires that enables complex lighting installations in space.
