Flos Skynest – artistic designer luminaire with graphic light pattern
With Flos Skynest, Marcel Wanders has created an extraordinary luminaire that provides an innovative lighting experience. The dome-shaped shade with an open structure turns into a spectacular light network when switched on, creating atmospheric lighting with adjustable light color.
The refined, organic design contributes to this as much as the modern lighting technology of the Skynest: The fabric-covered LED strips act as light sources and shine with refraction effects. This creates a fascinating graphic pattern and adds depth to the diffused lighting.
An aluminum ring closes the dome shade from below and stabilizes it with a simple plug-in system – adhesive is not used for the entire luminaire. This allows the Skynest to be disassembled into its individual parts in the event of repair and, if necessary, recycled professionally.
With the Skynest pendant light you create an impressive dining table lighting. If your cable outlet is not located centrally above the table, the collection's arc lamp is recommended. With the ceiling lamp, in turn, you will enjoy cozy room lighting.
Marcel Wanders – a creative free spirit with a love for unusual designs
Marcel Wanders, born in 1963, is a Dutch designer internationally known for his eye-catching, detail-oriented designs.
He studied in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and in Hasselt, Belgium, rather he graduated, in 1988 at the Academy of Arts in Arnhem. He then worked as a freelance designer and in 1992 became a partner in Waac's Design & Consults in Rotterdam. In 1995 Wanders founded his own design studio, which has worked with airline British Airways and Italian furniture manufacturer Cassina, among others.
Wanders is regarded as a free spirit and avant-gardist, who likes to cause trouble from time to time. He loves to surprise the design world with his – not infrequently polarizing – works. His designs are often colorful and playful and are characterized by a high degree of creativity and ingenuity.
With Syknest, the Dutchman picks up on his Skygarden design, also for Flos. Both are characterized by their dome-shaped lampshade with detailed elements and provide diffused lighting with an unusual touch.
