Design

The characteristic check pattern of its shade is responsible for the distinctive look of the Tartan LED pendant light. The pattern is created during the glass blowing process, during which special vertical and horizontal indentations are incorporated. This way, the particular appearance of the Foscarini Tartan Sospensione LED is achieved, which reminds us of the check pattern in kilts that are worn by Scottish clans. The fabric-like, soft look is produced by treating the glass with acid.

The Tartan Sospensione LED light was designed by Ludovica Palomba in 2015 for Foscarini.

Tartan Sospensione LED – light emitted downwards and to the sides

The Foscarini Tartan Sospensione LED emits its warm-white light directly downwards. This way, it ensures an effective illumination of the area below it. Moreover, the matt glass that functions as a filter provides for a pleasantly dim lighting. In addition to the light emitted downwards, the Tartan supplies diffuse light in all directions so that a uniform ambient lighting is created. For this purpose, it offers a light output of 2,430 lumens which corresponds to the brightness achieved by a 150 W incandescent lamp. The LEDs of this pendant light only require 20.3 watts for this.
