Foscarini Tuareg – a floor lamp and an installation of art
The
Foscarini Tuareg is an extraordinary floor lamp that unfolds its extraordinary effect as an ambient light as well as a furnishing element. The modern lighting solution is based on a design by Ferruccio Laviani who dealt with the question of how to bring order into the chaos. While doing so, he was inspired by very different impressions, from modern architecture to Far Eastern skill-based games.
The result is a floor lamp with a very unique design. The structure of the
Foscarini Tuareg consists of 9 rod elements that are held in a delicate balance and that are joined together to form an abstract figure. Here, the three longest rods are interlocked and form the basic structure. The other aluminium elements are connected to this structure in a loose arrangement. An abstract shape emerges whose definite meaning cannot be determined. Whether this is supposed to be a tree that lost its leaves or a shamanistic totem figure is up to the viewer.
Tuareg lights: zone lighting and ambient lighting rolled into one
Due to its
experimental and expressive design, the
Foscarini Tuareg is ideally suited as a lighting object for commercial entrance areas or hotel lobbies. Here, the standard lamp not only provides for a pleasant basic illumination with uniformly diffused ambient light but is also a stylish showpiece representing the sophisticated taste of the company. However, in the private sphere the
Tuareg light also exudes a touch of aesthetic extravagance. In the
living room the floor lamp by the Italian light manufacturer Foscarini provides for glare-free ambient lighting that contributes to a pleasant atmosphere. At the same time, this light fixture is an elegant eye-catcher that will definitely provoke discussion.
Floor lights with LED lamps that can be dimmed separately
The
Foscarini Tuareg not only convinces with its aesthetic appearance but also excels in terms of its particular lighting properties. Three of nine aluminium rods forming the corpus are equipped with powerful LED modules which are all enclosed by a satin-finished diffuser made of polycarbonate. These elements can be rotated independently of one another by 350°, which offers you the opportunity to individually adjust the light incidence of this
floor lamp by Foscarini. However, the special thing about these LEDs is that each individual element can be
separately dimmed and switched on. This way, you can very precisely determine the light intensity. Strictly speaking, the
Tuareg light combines all three types of light – ambient lighting, zone lighting and mood lighting – and thus becomes a real all-rounder in terms of illumination.
With all appreciation for the visual appearance, the
Tuareg by
Foscarini convinces with the energy efficiency of its LED modules. Together, they only consume
50.4 watts to produce a luminous flux of
3,750 lumens, which outshines the intensity achieved by a conventional
200 W incandescent lamp. Moreover, the LEDs offer a good colour rendering index of R
a=90.
Ferruccio Laviani particularly made a name for himself as a furniture and industrial designer. This is also reflected in the design of the
Foscarini Tuareg. This light combines the properties of industrial roughness and aesthetic homeliness. The colours on offer – either black or orange – also strikingly reflect these influences.
