Design

The Fritz Hansen Orient is reminiscent of the characteristic onion-shaped domes of oriental and orthodox sacred buildings. This exotic analogy is based on the magnificent lampshade which is tapering towards the top and which is crowned by a rosewood tip. Moreover, the pendant light from the Danish light manufacturer Fritz Hansen conjures up associations of the fanciful opulence known from the stories of One Thousand and One Nights. Already in 1963, the Fritz Hansen Orient was created by the Danish designer Jo Hammerborg. Since 2013 this pendant lamp has been reissued by Fritz Hansen.

Orient pendant lights: pleasant zone lighting

The Fritz Hansen Orient supplies the area below it with pleasant and completely glare-free zone lighting. Depending on the size of the lampshade, the amount of vertical slots in the reflector varies. The slots allow a part of the light to softly escape upwards. Thus, this pendant lamp not only functions as a practical light source but it also creates a splendid ambience within the room. The pendant lamp is available in different sizes. The maximum power consumption of the illuminant to be inserted varies depending on the selected size. Naturally, all variants of the Orient pendant light can also be equipped with energy-saving lamps, such as LED retrofits.
