Gubi Cobra lives up to its namesake.
With a lampshade inspired by the cobra's hood, the Gubi Cobra has slithered its way into the accolades of the design world, winning the Good Design Award.
Gubi Cobra has much in common with the body of the cobra. The lamp arm is flexible, allowing the user to adjust the Gubi Cobra to provide light precisely where it is needed. The lampshade, which rotates a full 360°, is reminiscent of the snake's hood. Available in many different colours, this lampshade blocks glare and focuses the light of the Cobra table lamp.
Perfect as a reading light on end tables near a chair or sofa, the Gubi Cobra table lamp adds a dramatic accent as well. It also makes a great assistant placed on desks, where the no-glare illumination serves as bright task lighting. Gubi Cobra is also quite eye catching placed on bedside tables.
This Gubi lamp is a design classic dating from 1950. Its creator, Greta Grossman, became the first woman to receive the Good Design Award from the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art for the Gubi Cobra.
