Design

The Ingo Maurer Birdie LED is a pendant light like no other: instead of a lampshade (or several lampshades), this chandelier-like pendant light has twelve lamps which are fitted with wings made of goose feathers. In this way, the Birdie LED is reminiscent of a flock of birds that is about to fly up into the air – a truly mesmerising sight. The variant presented here is equipped with energy-efficient LEDs. It is the successor of the immensely popular halogen variant which you can find in the light11 shop as well. The body of the Birdie LED by Ingo Maurer consists of multiple hand-twisted wires that split into individual lamp arms.

The Birdie LED was designed by Ingo Maurer for Ingo Maurer in 2002.

Birdie LED – bendable lamp arms for customisable lighting

The twelve lamps of the Ingo Maurer Birdie LED emit their light into every possible direction. As a whole, they create harmonious ambient light, which can be easily modified at any time thanks to the bendable lamp arms. With a maximum height of 100 cm, the Birdie LED is recommended for rooms with a height of 230 cm to 260 cm. The LED lamps consume a total of less than 20 watts, provide however a luminous flux equal to a 100 wattsk incandescent lamp. In this way, you safe precious energy while contributing to the protection of the environment.
