DesignOriginal Campari Soda: only the original will convince. The Ingo Maurer Campari Light 155 pendant light impressively shows how innovative and creative German light compositions may be. The iconic bottle was already created in 1932 by Fortunato Depero, a versatile Italian artist of Futurism. 70 years later, in 2002, the designer Raffaele Celentano must have caught a particularly good day when he designed the Campari Light 155 pendant light for Ingo Maurer: ten original Campari Soda bottles filled with 100 ml original Campari Soda each.
The works from Ingo Maurer stand out for a unique, surprising design combined with good craftsmanship and technical expertise and they also reflect the innovative zeitgeist – which can be easily seen from Campari Light 155 pendant lamps. Ingo Maurer was born on the island of Reichenau on Lake Constance in 1932. After finishing his training as typographer, he completed the studies of graphic design in Munich. In 1960, he migrated to the USA where he worked as a freelance designer until 1963.
In 1966, he founded "Design M" in Munich. This is where one of the first award-winning lights – Bulb – was created. Numerous other awards were to come, i.e. the Design Award of the City of Munich (1999), the Lucky Strike Designer Award (2000) and the "Collab’s Design Excellence Award" of the Philadelphia Museum of Art (2002). On top of all this, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Royal College of Art, London. Moreover, Ingo Maurer received the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany for his life’s work.
