dimmable illuminant and external dimmerFor dimming a luminaire, you only require a dimmable illuminant and a customary external phase dimmer. Please make sure that the dimmer output power (watts) suits the illuminant’s output power. For LED illuminants, you usually need a phase dimmer with low load (max. 50/100 watts) and an On/Off function. Ingo Maurer Canned Light – pendant light as an homage to Andy Warhol
Canned Light: unique idea for a gift for design aficionados
Made in
Germany
Design
Fresh out of the packaging, the Ingo Maurer Canned Light looks like a Campbell’s can. However, taking a closer look, this homage to the world-famous piece by the pop art icon Andy Warhol turns out to be an intelligently packaged pendant light. The entire lighting technology consisting of the halogen lamp, the reflector, the socket, the cable and the switch is located in the body of the rather slim Canned Light. This way, the pendant lamp created by the extraordinary German designer Ingo Maurer is a wonderful surprise for all Warhol fans and all those who appreciate extraordinary design.

Canned Light pendant lights: brilliant zone lighting
The Ingo Maurer Canned Light emits its focused light directly downwards. This way, the petit pendant light supplies the area below it with pleasant, warm-white light. Moreover, the Canned Light may be used as a pendant light as well as a wall light. The pendant light may be continuously adjusted in height be means of a pulley and an adjustment ring made of stainless steel. The Canned Light is supplied with a 200 cm long cable. Otherwise, the pendant light from Ingo Maurer may be directly attached to the wall using the supplied surface-mounted box. Detailed assembly instructions are included in the scope of supply.
I ordered the lamp for the pantry, where this small original lamp hangs on the ceiling and we like it very much, it illuminates everything sufficiently.Die Leuchte habe ich für für die Speisekammer bestellt, dort hängt diese kleine originelle Lampe an der Decke und gefällt uns sehr gut, leuchtet ausreichend alles aus.
REQUIREMENTS: We were looking for a stylish lamp for our pass-through in the kitchen, which was supposed to be an eye-catcher above all else. We chose the "Ingo Maurer Canned Light," since we found it nice that it very beautifully picks up the colour of our red KitchenAid machine and also, as a tribute to likely the most famous work of the New York pop artist Andy Warhol, it made a reference to our New York photos in the kitchen. DESCRIPTION: In the end, the suspended lamp consists of a can, which is fitted with a reflector on the inside. The height of the light is variably adjustable up to a maximum of 2 metres in cable length by using an adjusting ring and should provide a pleasant lighting zone. ASSESSMENT / POINT OF CRITICISM: When you bear in mind that the light is really only emitting out of the can, it provides a surprisingly good and even lighting effect with just one halogen bulb. We find the height adjustment to be not very convenient. However, we virtually never use it, because the light was set at an optimal height originally. In our opinion, a clearly negative point is the junction box (2.5 cm high, 7.5 cm diameter) that is too large and unsightly for the price range and is attached to the mounting suspension on top, which consists of white, low-grade plastic. Unfortunately, this could not be seen beforehand in the photos on the Internet. A second negative point is that you frequently see a weld seam on the side of the can and that the lamp cannot be aligned any other way after installing it. LONG-TERM EXPERIENCE: We have had the light for a good four years now and it has worked flawlessly. CONCLUSION: In summary, we are overall satisfied with the light for our use. It is quite an eye-catcher with a couple of flaws in the processing (can) and the option to align the seam. It is worthy of improvement given the rather high price for what is really just a can. For use (as also recommended) above a dining table or coffee table, we would however choose a different light. If you compare the light with another reputable manufacturer, such as Artemide or Flos, we would prefer this one from the perspective of the price-performance ratio.REQUIREMENTS: We were looking for a stylish lamp for our pass-through in the kitchen, which was supposed to be an eye-catcher above all else.
