AJ F lights: steeped in history and made of high-quality materials

Design
The Louis Poulsen AJ F masterfully combines a purist design with flexibly adjustable, glare-free zone lighting. Thus, this elegant floor lamp created by the design legend Arne Jacobsen serves as an attractive representative of functional design as well as a flexible reading light in the entire living area. The thin, deliberately slanted lighting rod and the base with the characteristic aperture make the AJ F from the traditional, Danish light manufacturer Louis Poulsen look elegant and unobtrusive. The cut-out on the base formally corresponds to the asymmetric lampshade and thereby enriches the airy design of this floor lamp. Since its 50th anniversary this light is not only available with an aluminium grey, a white and a black surface finish – additional versions e.g. in red, petrol/green or sand are also offered. Arne Jacobsen designed the AJ F in 1960 as part of the preparations for the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.

AJ F floor lamps: high level of flexibility
The special feature of the Louis Poulsen AJ F is its high level of functionality. The pivotable lampshade of this floor lamp directs the pleasant zone lighting to wherever it is required. The AJ F from Louis Poulsen can be operated using different light bulbs. Halogen light bulbs stand for a brilliant colour rendering, while LED retrofits are beneficial for the household budget as well as the climate thanks to their high energy efficiency.
Let's start with the positive features of this light: it has a high-quality finish and looks very stylish. It also provides very good light. But: In my opinion, it is only suitable as a reading light to a limited extent because it is too large or high for this and therefore causes a lot of glare! With a seat height of 50 cm (such as at a desk or dining table) there are no problems, but with a seat height of 40 cm (such as on a sofa or in an armchair) you sit under the lampshade. Because it is very small and can only be moved to a very limited extent, you are constantly dazzled if the lamp is positioned to the side or front. It is not possible to reduce the size of the lamp due to the rigid design of the stem. Personally, I also dislike the cheap look of the foot switch and plastic cable. I can therefore only recommend the light as a mood light in the background, but not in its actual function as a reading light.
