Patera: glare-control based on Poul Henningsen’s designs
The Louis Poulsen Patera is characterised by a fabulous lighting effect. While a major portion of light is focused downwards to harmoniously illuminate the area beneath, the lamp shade itself is softly illuminated. In this way, the Patera is slightly reminiscent of a small sun that fills the room with natural and pleasant light. Furthermore, the pendant light by Louis Poulsen stands out for its brilliant glare-control. Its creator, Øivind Slaatto, developed the lamp shade based on Poul Henningsen’s designs for soft and glare-free lighting. That is why the PVC plates are tilted downwards. In this way, the illuminant can only be seen from angle below 45° and the light emitted is focused downwards.
