Design

The 42 cm shade of the Marset Ginger floor lamp reminds us of the hi-hat that is part of a drum kit. The floor lamp’s name also makes a reference to this topic as its creator Joan Gaspar named it after Ginger Baker, the drummer of the rock band "Cream". However, different from what you might think due to this reference, the shade of the Ginger is veneered with fine oak or wenge. Here, the wood applications form an appealing contrast to the remaining aluminium structure. This provides the floor lamp from Marset with a particular charm that enriches the living room.

The Ginger Floor lamp LED was designed by Joan Gaspar for Marset in 2014.

Ginger floor lamps: glare-free reading light

The Marset Ginger floor lamp offers widely diffused, soft light directed downwards. The pleasantly soft, comprehensive lighting is the result of an interplay between the diffuser and reflector: the reflector houses a modern LED that directs its light upwards towards the white lacquered inner surface of the extremely thin shade. From there it is reflected downwards as indirect, diffuse light. This means that the floor lamp supplies completely glare-free lighting. However, the Ginger also impresses in terms of the energy efficiency: it only requires 15.4 W to generate a luminous flux of impressive 2,130 lumens. This almost corresponds to the brightness achieved by a classic 150 W incandescent lamp. This means that the floor lamp from Marset turns out to be extraordinarily eco-friendly.
