Design

In 1962, Wilhelm Braun-Feldweg created the Britz wall light and with it an exemplary light fitting of German post-war design. The wall light made of painted stainless steel is characterised by a reduced shape and overall elegant design. However, the Britz by Mawa not only upgrades a wall with its decorative appearance, but also with an outstanding lighting effect. The purist wall light impresses with a sophisticated construction: the rectangular reflector can be flipped up and down for a different lighting effect. The Mawa Britz wall light owes its name to the Neukölln district in Berlin. Britz is part of this iconic working-class district. In 2002, Mawa decided to release the Britz from 1962 as a re-edition.

Britz: mood light or work light, the choice is yours

The Mawa Britz scores points with its tiltable reflector which allows you to adjust the lighting effect as desired. Depending on the position of the reflector, the light is directed downwards, upwards or in both directions. Thereby, the Britz adapts flexibly to the individual situation. Furthermore, the wall light has an E14 socket, which can be equipped with a lamp of your choice. For an eco-friendly operation of the Britz by Mawa, light11 recommends using an LED retrofit lamp.

Britz – wall lamps for an individually adjustable lighting effect

The Mawa Britz can be used to create accentuating light on a wall or it may function as an uplight. For this, the wall light is often installed in hallways or staircases, where it creates elegant light accents. With its unobtrusive appearance, the Britz also really comes into its own in representative areas, such as conference room. However, the designer light may also provide a bedroom with harmonious ambient light, which creates a homely and relaxing atmosphere. Furthermore, installed above a desk, the wall light by Mawa is an enrichment for the study as well.
