Moooi – extraordinary lamps with an idiosyncratic design language
Moooi stands for original and unusual, sometimes provocative designs. The Dutch company was founded in 2001 by Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers. The two had an ambitious goal: they wanted to create a legendary brand. More than twenty years later, it can be said: mission accomplished.
Moooi has developed into a renowned manufacturer for unique premium lamps, which not infrequently look like sculptures. The luminaires are characterized by an extravagant design language with great attention to detail and outdo each other with their creative, often humorous designs.
The fact that an aesthetic appearance – in addition to a very good lighting effect – is in the foreground, promises already the name of the brand. Mooi means beautiful in Dutch. The third o in the company's name exemplifies the claim to always want to surpass the beautiful. Moooi succeeds again and again with extravagant designs whose wow effect surprises and impresses.
Heracleum – innovation packed in organic design
This light sculpture knows how to convince aesthetics and technology lovers. The pendant lamp imitates the filigree inflorescence of an umbellifer. Heracleum owes the fact that it does not require any cables to an innovative technical solution. The individual branches are coated with a sandwich coating that conducts electricity directly. This creates a unique object that bathes the room in a magical light.

Marcel Wanders – the man for extraordinary and detailed designs
Marcel Wanders (b. 1963) is a true free spirit who likes to be controversial and polarizing. The Dutchman graduated from the Arnhem Art Academy in 1988 and was already active as a designer before Moooi was founded in 2001. Wanders has designed lighting, furniture and other products for many renowned manufacturers. He is known for his extravagant, eye-catching objects, which is all too evident in Moooi's collections.
Among his most successful products is Heracleum. The pendant lamp perfectly expresses his love for playful, detailed designs. The artistic hanging lamp is modeled on the inflorescence of an umbellifer, named after the plant hogweed (lat. Heracleum). With its filigree, organic design, Heracleum advances to an extraordinary light sculpture that bathes rooms in atmospheric, diffuse light.
