Design

A completely extraordinary concept serves as the basis for the Random Light from Moooi which meanwhile has become a modern design classic. The manufacturing process of the Moooi Random Light pendant light that looks like a ball of wool is simple as well as refined: thin fibreglass threads are drawn through epoxy resin and subsequently wrapped around an inflated beach ball. As soon as the resin has hardened, the ball is deflated and it is then completely removed through the openings in the shade. And ready is the airy and graceful body of the pendant light that seems to be floating in the air. This way, the pendant light offers a particularly unique distinguishing feature: each shade of the Random Light is a unique piece as the distribution of the fibreglass threads is random which also explains this light’s name.

Designer

Bertjan Pot designed the Random Light pendant light Pendant lights in 2001 for the manufacturer Moooi.
