Design

The Nemo Parliament Terra uplight is a luminaire with history. After the independence of India in 1947, the Indian government commissioned the Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier to build the city Chandigarh including the parliament. In the course of the construction, which took nearly 60 years, Le Corbusier also designed the Parliament Terra floor lamp in 1963. The uplight impresses with a characteristic lampshade which consists of two conical reflectors of different colours, somewhat reminiscent of a megaphone. It is based on the Applique de Marseille wall light, created in 1954, and lends your home a subtle touch of nostalgia. The Nemo Parliament Terra is a re-edition of the original from 1963.

Parliament Terra – adjustable light emission in two directions

The adjustable lamp head is the functional feature of the Nemo Parliament Terra. It has two light openings facing in opposite directions and it can be tilted by 180° and rotated by 345°. Thanks to this, the two light beams, one of which is slightly narrower, can be pointed into the desired direction. The reflectors of the Parliament Terra are painted white on the inside so that the emitted light is free of glare and released softly into the room. Furthermore, the uplight by Nemo is provided with a dimmer on the supply line which allows for a convenient adjustment of the brightness. The creation of Le Corbusier requires two lamps with an E27 base. light11 recommends using halogen lamps for a brilliant colour rendering. Alternatively, you can also use LED retrofit/filament lamps for an energy-efficient operation.

Parliament Terra uplighters for living rooms, bedrooms and studies

As the Nemo Parliament Terra emits its light in two directions, it also fulfils two lighting tasks. One of the two light beam can be used as reading light next to a couch, for instance, or an armchair in the living room. There, the floor lamp contributes to the base lighting of the room with its second light beam facing into the opposite direction. If this light hits a wall or ceiling, a wonderfully indirect, soft ambient lighting unfolds. Also beside a bed in the bedroom or a desk in the study, the Nemo Parliament Terra scores points in its double function as a source of reading light and ambient light.
