Verpan Fun 1STM – floor lamp with a genuine nacre shade
A "lampshade" made of genuine nacre discs makes the
Fun 1STM floor lamp by
Verpan a special lighting solution.
The discs from the sea give the Verpan Fun 1 STM a charming maritime look. Thus, this
1.20 m large floor lamp turns into an unparalleled eye-catcher that attracts all the attention with its
natural lampshade. As such, a
Fun 1 STM is a unique feature in every room that becomes its home. It cuts a particularly great figure when this light source is standing freely or next to an armchair or a sofa in the living room. It is also often placed in the vicinity of a seating group, where its glare-free, soft light ensures a cosy atmosphere.
Furthermore, the light emitted by the illuminant that is reflected multiple times inside the lamp turns the Verpan Fun 1 STM into a luminous object that is shining from the inside. Even more: the floor lamp that is also called Mother of Pearl "shines" even while it is switched off when the nacre discs absorb the ambient light which creates a soft shimmering effect. Its exceptional look makes this light source the perfect choice for representative areas, for instance, in a hotel lobby, where it should preferably be positioned in the seating area.
Fun 1STM lights: a brainchild of a Pop Art pioneer
The
Verpan Fun 1 STM is a creation by Verner Panton. The Danish architect and designer icon was one of the first persons to introduce Pop Art into the world of furniture and is considered as one of the most influential furniture and interior designers of the 20th century. He designed the Fun floor lamp in the 1960s; the Danish company Verpan transferred this refined as well as elegant light fixture into the new century.
The Verpan Fun 1 STM is part of a large
light family, which, besides pendant lights and wall lights, also includes table lamps. All versions are provided with the signature of their creator Verner Panton which certifies the authenticity of the light. In addition to the nacre versions, there are also versions equipped with aluminium discs. These reflect the light in an even more powerful way and therefore produce a more effective light. An example of these lights is the
Fun 1DA pendant light.
The scope of supply of the Verpan Fun 1 STM does not include any lamps. It is recommended to equip this light with halogen lamps that offer a warm-white light with a brilliant colour rendering.
Additional information on the designer: the Danish designer Verner Panton, who died in 1998, is one of the central figures in Scandinavian design. He became internationally known thanks to the Panton Chair that was named after him – the first cantilever chair without rear chair legs that was completely manufactured from one piece of plastic material. He is, for instance, also responsible for the
FlowerPot pendant light designed for &Tradition and the
Panthella T table lamp.
