Verpan Moon pendant light: the work of a designer legend

Design

Verner Panton designed the Moon pendant light as early as 1960 – at that time, for the manufacturer Louis Poulsen. Since then, the design was copied many times, yet the magic of the original could never be imitated. That is until the Danish company Verpan secured the rights in 2010 and started a new production of the famous pendant light. With its sophisticated design, the Verpan Moon pendant light opens up many creative possibilities in terms of light design. The new edition of the Moon pendant light, exhibited in the Vitra Design Museum, consists of differently finished aluminium lamellae that become larger from the centre outwards and that are mounted loosely so that they can be moved. Furthermore, each Moon pendant light is provided with Verner Panton’s signature.

Moon: simulating the lunar phases

The fan-shaped structure surrounds the illuminant to be inserted so that reflections occur and a fascinating play of light is created. What is special is that the user himself decides what this play of light looks light as he can freely shift the elements of the Verpan Moon: whether full moon, waning or waxing moon, it is up to you. light11 recommends equipping the pendant light by Verpan with a classic halogen lamp. Alternatively, you may also use an energy-saving LED retrofit lamp.

Moon – pendant lamps for beguiling light in the living area

The Verpan Moon is often installed in the living room, where its variable art of lighting allows the room to be put in another lighting context at any time: the more exposed the illuminant is, the more light is emitted by the Verpan Moon to suffuse the surrounding area with pleasant light.
