Design

The Verpan Wire table lamp is a stylish classic from 1972. By means of this precious table lamp, the Danish star designer Verner Panton gives his two favourite materials – steel and plastic – an unexpectedly delicate appearance. The lamp’s base is made of chrome-plated and polished stainless steel that starts as a cylindrical foot and then expands to become a hemisphere. The metal is processed until no burrs, edges or seams are visible. The high quality plastic shade is mounted on top of the metal frame. The shade with a diameter of 30 cm is available in white, while the Verpan Wire with a shade diameter of 40 cm is offered in white and in bright yellow. A metal structure is located underneath the shade and houses the lamp. This unusual combination of high quality materials and the interaction between transparent and opaque surfaces turns the Verpan Wire into a fanciful style icon of the 1970s.

Wire table lamps: pleasant and softly glare-free light

When the light is switched off, the plastic reflector appears opaque and non-transparent. However, once the Verpan Wire is switched on, the shade becomes a little transparent so that softly diffused light is emitted in all directions. As most of the light is directed downwards, the Verpan Wire supplies both zone and reading light. The hemispherical reflector can easily be dismounted to exchange the lamp. Speaking of the illuminant: light11 recommends using a halogen lamp for the table lamp by Verpan. This kind of lamps ensures a brilliant lighting with an excellent colour rendering index. Alternatively, you may also use a retrofit LED lamp.

Table lamps for cosy light in the living room and the bedroom

The small version of the Verpan Wire table lamp proves very useful as bedside table lamp, as it provides a cosy illumination, which gently provides for a pleasant transition between daytime and night-time. The bigger version may serve as table lamp or as a floor lamp in the living room. Here, the table lamp by the Danish design company Verpan not only provides for homely light, but it also functions as an elegant eye-catcher with a charming 70s flair.
